Im confused about what wikipedia is saying...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quiet,_Please

Actually. I'm not confused.. This is just a rant..

Read what wikipeadia says...

_____________________________________________________________
------------------------WIKIPEDIA----------------------------

Quiet, Please debuted June 8, 1947 on the Mutual Broadcasting System, and its last episode was broadcast June 25, 1949, on the ABC. A total of 106 shows were broadcast, with only a very few of them repeats...

Ok, if it's true there were 106 broadcast, with only 4 of them being repeats as based on the information here, that would mean there were only 102 actual episodes...

Well that can't be accurate, because we currently have 92 of the episodes, (actaully 91 and a half) meaning only 10 would be missing... But it's not ten, it's 14 and a half missing.
So somehow something isn't adding up.

But there's more...

_____________________________________________________________
------------------------WIKIPEDIA----------------------------
"For many years, the majority of the show's episodes were feared lost, with only 12 episodes in general circulation among collectors. In the late 1980s, more than 80 episodes were discovered,.."

Ok, hold on a second..
If there were 12 in circulation, then OVER 80 more were found in the late 1980s.. then that would bring the total amount of existing episodes up to AT LEAST 93 - right?

It goes on to say...

_____________________________________________________________
------------------------WIKIPEDIA----------------------------
..Currently in circulation are 88 episodes, plus half of an 89th...

Ok, let's get the calculator:

93 (at least) in the late 1980s
- 88 (and a half) in existence now
----
5 (at least)

What happened to the other at least 5 ??

Answer, there isn't another 5.
Wiki is wrong about 88 in existence now, as we have 91 and a half.

Wiki goes on to err further..

------------------------WIKIPEDIA----------------------------
..Another 17 are presumed lost, though, according to Hand, scripts survive for all of them..

Hmmmm... Isn't it actually only 14 and a half missing?

Ok. I'm done ranting.
Wiki needs some corrections.

106 episodes with 4 of them being repeats is the count I have too: www.quietplease.org/index.p...x.php?section=listepisodes

I have 90 MP3 files on this site, one of which is a half-episode, so I have 89.5 episodes just as wikipedia says. If you have two more, what are they? Maybe you're counting Pavane as The Girl With the Flaxen Hair and both versions of Berlin 1945, those are repeated episodes of which only one of the versions exists.

Ahhh.. Thank you Paul for clearing that up..

I see now where I went wrong. What happened is that I have a total of 92 mp3 files in my quiet please folder.. thus I this caused me to conclude there were 91 and a half existing episodes.. But after reading your post and taking a closer look, I realize I had also downloaded two additional mp3s (episodes 20 and 29) probably from the internet archive because I had noticed I didn't have those numbered episodes.

Imagine that.. The wikipedia is right and I was wrong.. Who woulda beleived it?!

However, I still am in wonder on how:
"For many years, the majority of the show's episodes were feared lost, with only 12 episodes in general circulation among collectors. In the late 1980s, more than 80 episodes were discovered,.."

That would of brought the count to a minimum of 93.

I guess some of some of those found were already in current circulation?.. But it just doesn't sound right.. How can something be discovered that's already in public circulation?

Actually your guess sounds likely. If I recall, the big trove discovered was Ernest Chappell's personal collection. It probably included some episodes that were already in circulation, but it can still be sort of valid to say that the whole collection of 80 copies was discovered because that copy of the episode wasn't available before. Some of those duplicates may have been superior copies compared to the ones previously in circulation.
