Seeing as how I haven't updated anything on this website in years, it was time for a change. Note the new forum. Main motivation is that there were more than 100 registered members (now deleted) who were various pornography sites trying to get their URL exposure in the member list. It's much easier for me to control/prevent such stuff using my own software, so I switched from the 3 year old beta version of OpenBB I'd been using to this infant stage of a forum script I'm writing.

Suggestions welcome, bug reports welcome. But first, the known issues:
- The scripts forum says 1/1/1970, but that'll fix itself whenever the next post is made.
- There are a few white images that need to be replaced with darker ones.
- Old posts aren't assigned to their owners. This also means post counts are incorrect. I couldn't trasfer this directly in the database, though I can fix it for individual members. Have already done so for most of the recent more frequent posters.

These are purely suggestions for now, didn't find any bugs myself:
-Might be a good idea to make it so that you can report individual posts.
-Lessen the gap between threads on the forum page.
-Have some more options under the Profile; i.e. Biography, interests, age etc..
-On the forum page have "replies" as a category instead of "posts".
-Merge the "Creation Date" with the "Subject" category; that is: have the date the thread was created underneath the Subject name.

Still, the forum looks real nice. Developing very ewll. You'll have to also make a shoutbox once this is done. wink

1. I turned that off in the switches area. By default, you can report posts... but if you'd been around here you'd know that nothing ever needs to be reported here.
2. Done.
3. Will do that in the future when I start working on the script, yes.
4. I find that really confusing and annoying when forums do that, sorry. It makes no sense to substract out the opening posts of threads.
5. Maybe, but thread descriptions already go under the subject so it'd get a little crowded.

Changes look generally pretty good. Though, is it really necessary for us to be reminded in each post the exact minute (and second), of when that person registered? wink

Might also be a good idea to have a "Advanced Search Button" (next to the "Submit" one), as well as the plain ol' "Post Reply" that there is there.

Apart from that, it's pretty nice n' advanced now. Only other suggestions that I can think of, for the moment are a "Preview" option (as a new button grin), the few things you could change when clicking on a user, and as a question: what is the different topic types about?

Topic types aren't really applicable to this forum, but they'll be really useful at another as you'll probably see within a month.

How could advanced search relate to posting a reply? confused The advanced search is on the main page.

Took the time info off the registration date.

Ack, I meant something just like the 2Go Advanced" option... you know... might be a good idea to have things like "attach file" there and stuff... but maybe I'm just inculcated by VB forums.

I really think you should do a little editing before going public on other forums. wink Do you have any place that I could go and do some editing on the forum, and then show you? I've got a few good ideas.

I'll let you play around with the templates once the features are somewhat (at least vaguely) stable. Not much point at the moment since I'll just be awkwardly plopping a bunch more features into the templates.

Right now my plan is to upgrade webmastersite.net within a month or so, address all the issues that arise from that, and then a couple months later play around with a test version of philosophy forums. (Only firm date for an upgrade there is February... that's when my vBulletin license expires.)
