As an appropriate-for-today followup to In the House Where I Was Born. You'll notice I've cut large sections, so it goes. The little towns, I never see them anymore. Pekin, Delavan, Bloomington, Galesburg, Lewiston -- all the little towns above the river with the cobblestones going down to the steamboat landings. The little towns under the hills. The shocks of corn standing lonely and snow-covered, like the teepees of old Shabbona's people. I can only think of them, and remember t...

topic "Nothing Behind the Door" 6-8-47
Celebrated "Quiet Please's" 63rd birthday by listening to the debut episode in which Cooper takes us from an astronomy lesson about black holes to a bank heist to a shack that is surrounded by wire and designated as off-limits. He and his buddies want to use it to hide their loot, but are warned by a scientist that they shouldn't enter because it's not safe. And what's in there that's so dangerous? "Nothing." I'll tell you what. I can imagine an audien...

topic Hard Rock inspired by Quiet Please
I currently have five songs inspired by Quiet Please stories.
I currently have five songs inspired by Wyllis Cooper at this site: http://www.soundclick.com/bostjanzupancic Northern Lights (2010) Wear the Dead Man's Coat (2010) The Thing on the Fourble Board (1997) Beezer's Cellar (2009) Thirteen and Eight (2009) Let me know what you think if you do check them out. Thanks! I've also worked on a remake of Beezer's Cellar (the story), but it needs some serious work.

topic Whence Came You
WHAT HAPPENED TO ALL OF THE ACTORS ON THIS SHOW (QUIET PLEASE)?
Hi: I am new to this site. Just registered. My favorite episodes are many for Quiet Please but my favorite is Whence Came you. How I wish Ernest Chappell and Wyllis Cooper were still alive and still producing shows along with Mark Forbes and the rest. I know Ernest Chappell and Wyllis Cooper have since passed away but what happend to all the other actors that helped on that series like Mark Forbes, Martin Lawrence, etc. Who performed the voices on Whence Came You? Please write to me an...

topic The Evening and the Morning -- the movie
Just discovered this through Wikipedia. I was prepared for a cheesy, homemade thing that butchered the real episode. I couldn't have been more mistaken. If I hadn't known better, I would have sworn that this was an actual 1950's era TV version of Quiet, Please. Hope you enjoy... The Evening and the Morning

topic Audio quality (1, 2)
This may have been mentioned previously (I just joined the forum); if so please fogive. I love the programs, but have a really hard time listening to some of them in that the audio quality is downright terrible. Is there any way that those who are interested can pool some cash to have a professional clean up the recordings? I would certainly donate if this is possible.

topic Googling Wyllis Cooper
Here is a new batch of Cooper clippings. Some of these are incomplete and undated fragments I found while looking up Cooper on Google Book Search ( http://books.google.com ). That particular search engine sometimes provides only part of the text from a book or journal, either a "limited preview" (of pages) or a "snippet view" (of sentences). Very frustrating, but I guess something is better than nothing. _______________________ [From "The Story Behind Empire Builders,"...

topic New version of old QP
Some Middlebury College radio drama club members have graduated and started their own audio drama project. The inaugural production is a version of QP's "The Man Who Stole a Planet," using the uncut script (so there's material not heard in the original broadcast). Here's a link: http://www.escapepodx.com/2009/08/the-man-who-stole-a-planet/ Or you can download the mp3 file directly from this link: http://www.escapepodx.com/audio/episode1/themanwhostoleaplanet.mp3

topic Museum Display for Cooper's hometown
Hello folks, I am putting the finishing touches on a little project to donate to the County museum in Pekin, Il. Wyllis Cooper was born here, and I would like to help the town remember him, and his accomplishments. Does anyone have a link to somewhere where I can print off some scripts to some "Quiet Please" episodes? I see there are many sripts here...but I would like a more printer friendly version. Pekin, Illinois, doesn't remember Mr. Cooper very well, and I'm tryin...
